Try RC Sailing – Coming This May 31st to the San Diego Model Boat Pond!
Curious about radio-controlled sailing? Ever wondered what it’s like to make split-second tacks and gybes — and race using wind, water, and pure strategy?
This May 31st, 2025, the San Diego Argonauts invite you to our “Try RC Sailing” Day — an open, hands-on event where you can take the helm and experience the thrill of RC sailboat racing.
Whether you’re a competitive sailor, weekend cruiser, part of a high school or college sailing team, or just someone who’s always been fascinated by sailing — this is your chance to grab a transmitter and try it for yourself.
Here’s what to expect:
– Argonauts members will hand you the controls of their own RC racing sailboats so you can try the sport firsthand
– Short, fun courses set up for casual mini-races and practice maneuvers
– Real-time coaching from experienced RC skippers — sharing tips, tricks, and strategies to help you get the feel of the boat and the wind
– A chance to experience tactical sailing at high speed — it’s like match racing meets speed chess
When: Saturday, May 31, 2025 (10:30 AM to 2:30 PM)
Where: San Diego Model Boat Pond, Mission Bay Park
Cost: Free – Just show up and sail!
Come learn, compete, or just play around on the water — no prior RC experience needed. Bring your curiosity (and maybe a friend), and let the San Diego Argonauts show you what RC sailing is all about.
